TCA student and instructor reflections 2006

One of the gifts that accompanies running a dojo is the opportunity to engage on a daily or weekly basis with people who share a love of aikido practice.  The dojo invites people from all walks of life and who train for all sorts of reasons to step on the mat. Regardless of their goals the nature of this practice invites something intimate, and immediate to exchange. It’s past the liking and disliking; if one stays with the practice long enough, one begins to discover gems of understanding that come with mindful study.  The lesson is how we are all connected in an unignorable web, searching for meaning and maybe even serenity.

This fall I asked several students and instructors to reflect on how their aikido practice impacts their daily lives.  Below are several voices that give us a feeling of what that is:

Jonathan Miller-Lane, Scott Blaufeux, Robert Del Favero, Gina Lagalbo and Laura Brown.
Thank you for your time and effort to share your experience.

It is my goal to post people’s reflections of practice on a quarterly basis.    Sharpen your pencils.
