Two Cranes Institute Capital Campaign

TCI Capital Campaign Goals

In December 2025, Two Cranes Institute launched a capital campaign containing three goals:

Goal 1: Retire the debt on the building. Raise $1,632,202 to repay the note to the lenders due in December 2026.

  • Dec 2025: Launched TCI Capital Campaign with gifts of $250,000.

  • May 2026: Produced a 2-page flyer on Securing a Home for the Art of Peace.

  • June 2026: Raised a total of $1,600,000, enough to retire the debt on the building.

  • Goal 1 is complete!

Goal 2: Phase 1 Renovations of first floor. Raise another $1,400,000 to renovate 2,500 sq ft of extra space on the street level. This will be leased to generate additional revenue. Target date is January 2027.

  • June 2026: $35,000 raised.

Goal 3: Phase 2 Renovations of lower level. Raise another $2,625,000 to renovate an additional 5,000 sq ft of the lower level. This will be used to support expanded programmatic offerings and partnering with other organizations.

Following is an updated on the current status of the TCI Capital Campaign.

Dear Friend,

With deep gratitude and joy, we are thrilled to share extraordinary news:

Two Cranes Institute has reached its Phase 1 Capital Campaign goal of $1.6 million five months ahead of schedule!

Because of the generosity, trust, and commitment of this community, TCI has secured its home. We can now retire the building loan and ensure that 8512 20th Ave NE will remain a permanent home for the Art of Peace.

This milestone belongs to everyone who has practiced, taught, volunteered, donated, repaired, welcomed, and cared for one another through Two Cranes over many years. What has grown here is more than a dojo. It is a place where people of all ages practice presence, resilience, belonging, and the everyday courage to meet conflict with clarity and care.

Now we move into Phase 2 of the Capital Campaign: raising an additional $1.6 million to renovate and reconfigure the building for the future. Our target date for raising the next round of capital is January 2027. The TCI Board is anticipating meeting this milestone through a blend of continued generous community contributions, grants, and if needed, a commercial loan. Renovating the building will allow us to bring the full vision to life.

Phase 2 Capital Campaign will help create:

  • Expanded programs for youth, adults and community partners

  • A more accessible and welcoming home for practice and learning

  • Shared space for aligned organizations

  • A stronger, more sustainable foundation for TCI’s future work in aikido, contemplative practice, conflict resolution and community resilience.

We also have an immediate opportunity to build momentum. Thanks to generous donors, gifts to the capital campaign are currently being matched 1:1 up to $30,000. We have already raised $17,500 toward this match, which means another $12,500 in gifts can still be doubled.

With deep gratitude from us all!
